Isolation
The series “Isolation or Day…” was created during the global lockdown of 2020, when living became confined within four walls, and even the most ordinary elements — a door, a window, the flatness of a wall — gained a new and intense presence. They were no longer merely functional structures but silent witnesses to the inner emotional landscape of isolation.
Each work in the series carries the title “Isolation or Day N”, reflecting the psychological ritual of counting days — a coping mechanism used by many while being indefinitely locked inside their homes. What seemed like a forced “vacation” from the outside world was in fact imbued with quiet anxiety, shaped by uncertainty and the unknown length of this paused reality.
The dominant palette — deep blues, reds, blacks, and browns — conveys calmness intertwined with persistent unease. These paintings speak about the intimate inner space of confinement, where time becomes the only measurable entity and the surrounding enclosure leaves a visible imprint on one’s perception.
